Privacy Policy

MeetingScribes records classes and meetings, creates transcripts and notes, and answers questions about a selected transcript. It has no account system, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or developer-operated cloud service.

What MeetingScribes stores

Recordings, transcripts, meeting titles, summaries, speaker labels, and recovery drafts are stored in the MeetingScribes app container on your device. Recording, supported-language transcription, summaries, transcript retrieval, and Ask This Class answers run on the device. Ask This Class uses passages from the selected transcript and displays citations, but generated output can be incomplete or wrong.

When the app connects to the internet

MeetingScribes connects to the internet only after you confirm a language-model download. The request goes to the model host identified in the confirmation screen. MeetingScribes does not include meeting audio, transcripts, summaries, or study questions in that request. The models offered for in-app download are hosted by Hugging Face, which can see which model you request and may record your IP address, approximate location, and connection or device information. Hugging Face says it may use this information to deliver, operate, improve, and analyze its service and may retain it under its privacy policy.

Retention and deletion

MeetingScribes retains content until you delete a meeting or choose Delete All Local Data in Settings. Ask This Class conversations exist only while the meeting screen is open. Downloaded language models can be removed separately or with Delete All Local Data. Apple may include app data in device backups according to your iCloud and device-backup settings.

Permissions and sharing

You can deny or revoke microphone and speech-recognition access in iOS Settings. Recording can continue without speech recognition, but no transcript is created. MeetingScribes shares a transcript or diagnostic report only when you open and complete an iOS share sheet.

Recording consent

You are responsible for obtaining permission before recording a class or another person. Recording-consent rules vary by school and jurisdiction.
